Hi, I'm an ad writer who's been living in LIC since before Queens West was even built. I notice that there are tons on individual workout facilities near Gantry Park. I own a treadmill, belong to health clubs in the City, but, due to knee injuries am forced to indoor cycle (don't own one). I work at home in LIC, and cannot manage a daytime workout--but would like (can't walk, swollen knees) to now and then.

Would someone kindly help me out and allow me occasionally into their residential workout center?

I'm really responsible, and not technically disabled as yet--but on my way there.

Would be sooo grateful.

Robin rgryphe@aol.com

From the United Way, for LIC non profits:

Every day thousands of nonprofits throughout the five boroughs make our city a better place to live and work. Whether delivering health and human services, celebrating arts and culture, promoting social justice, or protecting the environment, every nonprofit needs talented and committed volunteers to serve on its Board of Directors.

In recognition of the vital role that board members play in supporting the work of local nonprofits, United Way of New York City, in partnership with NYC Service, offers BoardServeNYC, which connects nonprofit organizations with a pool of prospective board candidates who are passionate about volunteering and are ready, willing and able to serve.

The BoardServeNYC program includes intensive governance training (for both individuals seeking to serve and nonprofits) in board roles and responsibilities, and board recruitment among other issues. Professionals from all sectors - corporations, government, universities, etc. - are encouraged to apply and attend our trainings. Participation in BoardServeNYC is free for nonprofits in all boroughs of NYC.

We seek to help nonprofits by giving them an essential tool: good governance on a strong board of directors. BoardServeNYC has made over 180 confirmed matches in only a year, and hopes to continue serving our community by offering this essential program to a growing pool of nonprofits. I am a bit confused about this walking tour I see on here for the 18th of the month. The website www.licityguide.com has a posting for A Historic Walking Tour on the 11th of september between 3pm and 5pm,sponsored by the Hunters Point Community Development Corporation and that website http://www.ExploreHuntersPoint.com has the history of the organization for over 40 years.

My question is? Does anyone talk to anyone in Long Island City ? I am going to the Tour on the 11th, I live at The View in Hunters Point and I support the local Community Development Corporation and all the volunteer work they do for my new community. The LICityGuide.Com website has beed advertising all of the Tours they have been doing for months, golly, even the website name tells it all ExploreHuntersPoint.Com
